CHSS Responds to Programme for Government

In response to the Programme for Government, Chief Executive of Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, Jane-Claire Judson said: “Ahead of today’s Programme for Government, we stressed the importance of access to community rehabilitation for people with chest heart and stroke conditions. It is frustrating to see that for all its focus on the NHS, there is no mention of community rehabilitation in the Programme for Government.  Rehabilitation helps people rebuild their lives, live well with long term conditions and prevents hospital readmissions. Too many people are missing out on support that would help them live life to the full. We need rehabilitation to be seen as a priority.

“The investment in primary care to detect people at risk of cardiovascular disease is welcome – but this is not a new investment. Stroke and heart disease remain two of Scotland’s biggest killers. We need more action to stop people dying from preventable disease.”

People are leaving hospital feeling scared and alone. You can change that.

Your donation can help people do more than just survive – you can help them really live.
