Killie Heartmates Brew Up Support with Tartan Tea Party

Killie Heartmates will host their Tartan Tea Party on Sunday April 26th at The Park Hotel to raise money for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.

A Kilmarnock group will host a fundraiser this month to raise money for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.

Killie Heartmates, a local peer support group, will hold their Tartan Tea Party on Sunday April 26th in association with The Park Hotel.

East Ayrshire Provost Claire Leitch will open the Tartan Tea Party which runs from 1.30-5pm. Tickets cost £15 with half of the sales going to Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.

And there’s still time for people acrossthe area to sign up to Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland’s fundraiser and get your ‘brew crew’ together to support the 1 in 5 Scots living with chest, heart and stroke conditions and Long Covid.

Sheena Thomson, honorary group secretary of the Killie Heartmates, said: “After last year’s inaugural Tartan Tea Party was a success, our chairman and committee decided we wanted to host another party again this year.

Last year was a really successful event and we’re hoping to have another great day this year.

“It’s fantastic to have Provost Claire Leitch open the event and we’re all excited and looking forward to the day.

“The Park Hotel, who sponsors our shirts, is working along with us and they’re going to donate half the money for the Tartan Tea Party to Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland so half of the ticket money is going to CHSS. We have had a lot of support from The Park Hotel so it’s great to be involved with them again for this event.

“We’re doing a raffle with the proceeds going to CHSS as well and there will be entertainment on the day. Last year was a really successful event and we’re hoping to have another great day this year.”

CHSS is encouraging as many people as possible in the region to take part in the Tartan Tea Party, from groups of friends and family, playgroups, nurseries and schools to sports clubs, community groups and businesses.

The charity supports people across the country living with its conditions to live their lives to the full. CHSS is on hand to provide advice and support through its free Advice Line service, stroke nurses, online health information, support groups, supported self management courses and much more.

Killie Heartmates meets at Kay Parish Church Hall every Tuesday from 6-7pm and every Thursday from 6.30-7.30pm.

Kim Kilgour, Community Fundraiser at CHSS said: “We’re delighted to see Killie Heartmates celebrate their Tartan Tea Party at The Park Hotel once again this year.

“At CHSS, we say‘never underestimate the power of a cup of tea’.Living with or supporting someone with one of our conditions can be challenging and events such as the Tartan Tea Party are crucial to create time for people to gettogether, share support and advice as well as have fun.

“We had a fantastic first year andwe’relooking to build on that success in 2026 by encouraging as many people as possible to host a Tartan Tea Party of their own and get in on the fun.

“Our friendly fundraising team is on hand to help you organise your big day.”
