Dunfermline Band Strikes the Right Chord with Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland Fundraiser 25 May 2026 A Dunfermline band hit all the right notes to raise money for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland. Crisis played their fundraising gig at Headwell Bowling Club on Friday night raising £550. The concert was in memory of band member Jackie Gibbon’s dad, Mike Currie, who died of COPD last year. Jackie Gibbon, who plays the bass in Crisis, said: “We chose to support Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland because I lost my dad last year to COPD. “Over about 18 months, he went from being very active, going out every day, eating out, going to the theatre and concerts every day to being practically housebound, so I had started looking into the support CHSS could offer. He had just got a mobility scooter and oxygen he could take out with him and he passed away. “I’d only just started looking into the support. I saw there might be support groups or other ways to help people with COPD adjust to how life had changed. I spoke to him about it and he was quite keen. But then we lost him quite quickly, so we never actually got around to it. “I’ve also had a friend with COPD who passed away, an uncle who had a stroke and my gran who had a heart attack. There’s so many people affected by these things. “This fundraiser is a way for me to remember him and raise money to help other people affected by chest, heart and stroke conditions.” Kim Kilgour, Community, Events & Corporate Fundraiser at Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Jackie and Crisis for choosing to support Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland and thank them for their generosity. “Supporters like Jackie make a real difference, helping us continue to provide advice, support and community services for the 1 in 5 people across Scotland living with chest, heart and stroke conditions. Every fundraiser helps us be there for more people and families when they need us most.” To support the fundraiser please click here.
