Young Brothers Tackle Triathlon for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland 27 May 2026 A dynamic duo of brothers are taking on a kids triathlon this weekend to fundraise for one of Scotland’s largest health charities. Finlay and Hamish, aged 9 and 5 and from Oxfordshire, will take part in the Henley Triathlon in Oxfordshire on Saturday and are raising money for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS). The two boys are raising money for CHSS because their Granny Shona volunteers with the charity in Linlithgow. Hamish, 5, will be taking part in his first Henley Kids Triathlon. He will be swimming 10m, cycling 500m and running 250m. Big brother Finlay, 9, will be taking part for the second straight year and will be swimming 50m, cycling 2km and running 1km. Dad, James, said: “The boys absolutely love coming up to visit my mum, and she’s a volunteer in the charity shop in Linlithgow. “Not only does she volunteer but like any Scottish granny she gets the boys some goodies and if she sees things in the shop she’ll put them by for the boys when they come up to visit. “My late father competed in the Henley Royal Regatta in the 1970’s and it made the newspapers back then so the town has always been a bit of a special place for us which is one of the reason why we’re going there. “The boys are quite sporty and they consider themselves Scottish, so they quite like the fact that they’re raising funds for a Scottish charity as well.” To support Hamish and Finlay’s fundraisers please go to www.justgiving.com/page/hamishreidtriathlon and www.justgiving.com/page/finlayreidtriathlon. Elaine Thomson, Community Events & Corporate Fundraiser at CHSS, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Hamish and Finlay and wish them all the best for this weekend. “Their enthusiasm and spirit to fundraise at such a young age are truly inspiring, and it’s wonderful to see how their granny’s volunteering with CHSS has encouraged them to give back in this way. “Money raised will help us continue to support the 1 in 5 people across Scotland living with chest, heart and stroke conditions and Long Covid.” If you’re living with the effects of a chest, heart or stroke condition or Long Covid and are looking for advice and information, please contact Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland’s Advice Line on 0808 801 0899.
