A Dundee family is preparing to tackle the Kiltwalk for a special man this weekend 14 August 2026 Nicole, as well as 2 of her siblings Natalie and Jay, are preparing for the 20-mile Dundee Kiltwalk in memory of their dad, Sajjad Khokhar. Sajjad was a well-known, loved family man and hard-working Dundee taxi legend. Sajjad lived with a genetic heart condition, cardiomyopathy, and survived several heart attacks over the span of 20 years. The family sadly lost Sajjad last November after he had two strokes in less than 24 hours just two weeks after he turned 65. He passed away surrounded by his family within days, leaving his family heartbroken and determined to do something positive in his memory. Our hearts are broken, and life will never feel the same without him. But we want to do something that would make him proud. Nicole said: “My dad was a man who got on with life and never let anything get him down. He lived life to the fullest and there was never a dull moment in his company. Anyone who knew my dad knew he had the biggest, most amazing heart.” Nicole added: “The hardest part is knowing there were warning signs which were overlooked from medical professionals. Our hearts are broken, and life will never feel the same without him. But we want to do something that would make him proud. We want to raise awareness, support others and give back to charity which is something that was always so special to my dad. Natalie, Jay and I will be doing this walk for our dad on behalf of our siblings who unfortunately cannot take part this time but are supporting us every step of the way.” On Sunday, August 16th, the Dundee Kiltwalk Mighty Stride will see participants start on the West Sands at St Andrews and end at Slessor Gardens in Dundee City Centre in a 20-mile walk. Nicole said: “Every step we take is for him. If people can support us, we would be so grateful. We want to do our dad proud.” Elaine Thomson, Community Events & Corporate Fundraiser at CHSS, said: “We are extremely grateful to Nicole and her family for choosing to fundraise for us and we wish them well for the Kiltwalk. “Nicole, Natalie and Jay have such a worthwhile and powerful story to motivate them on this fundraising challenge and we know they will do Sajjad proud. “Through their kindness, Nicole, Natalie and Jay will help us to support the 1 in 5 people living across Scotland with a chest, heart, stroke condition and Long Covid to lives fuller lives.” To support Nicole and her siblings, visit: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/nicolekyle-1778019894532 If you’re living with the effects of a chest, heart or stroke condition or Long Covid and are looking for advice and information, please contact Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland’s Advice Line on 0808 801 0899.
