Venue: Whitelee Windfarm Moor Rd, Eaglesham, Glasgow G76 0QQ
The circular 5K route around Whitelee Windfarm begins and ends at the visitor centre, taking in beautiful scenery and magnificent sights along the way. The accessible route is suitable for the whole family, including outdoor prams and wheelchairs. There is an incline at the very end, with resting points situated along the end of the route, which may prove challenging for people with our conditions, but we are here to encourage and support you every step of the way.
By taking part in the Megawatt Walkathon you’re helping people in Scotland with a chest, heart or stroke condition really live. Every step you take will help others live life to the full. All the money you raise will stay in Scotland, helping to provide vital services and support in your local community. To enter, there is a fee of £15 for adults and £5 for kids (age 5 to 17), and under 5s go free! We also ask adults to raise a minimum sponsorship of £35 to help us make sure there’s No Life Half Lived in Scotland.
1. Park and Ride Transport
We are running a ‘Park & Ride’ system to the event venue, as there is limited parking at Whitelee Windfarm. This will help ensure a smooth on the day registration process and overall enjoyable day! Our event shuttle bus service will take you on a short journey from Williamwood High School (where we have allocated parking) and drop you directly at the Whitelee Visitor Centre, where you will register your arrival. Our event shuttle bus service will collect you from the Visitor Centre after you complete your walking challenge and return you to Williamwood High School. (Directions to Williamwood High School and the designated event parking area will be included in your event Registration & Fundraising Pack, which will be sent to you prior to the event day).
2. Timings?
You will receive your registration and event shuttle bus time slot at least 2 weeks prior to the event date of Sunday 13th September – please keep the day free in your diary. You will also receive a schedule for our event shuttle bus return journey service back to the car park within Williamwood High School.
3. Are there toilets on route?
While there are no toilets along the 5k walking route, there are comfort break facilities within Whitelee Visitor Centre, which we suggest you use before setting off on your 5km Megawatt Walkathon challenge.
4. Can I bring my sponsorship money on the day?
Yes, please bring a printout of your Online Fundraising Page or Cash Donations Collected and place them both or either in the envelope provided in your Registration & Fundraising Pack. We will collect your envelope from you on the day of the event during the registration process, before you start your Megawatt Walkathon challenge in aid of Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.
Give us a call on 013129 72750 and we will put you in touch with your regional fundraising advisor. We are here to give you lots of support and advice to help you achieve your fundraising goals and most importantly of all, make it fun!
