Adi’s Story

“I can’t even say how much Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland has helped me. I feel much more like myself.”

Adi was just 19 when she had a stroke. One moment she was studying law at the University of Glasgow, her whole future ahead of her. The next, everything changed.

She should have been building her future. Instead, recovery meant putting her studies on hold, and even small things felt impossible.

“I got a little bit sad, lonely and anxious. I had to build back up skills I had never really thought about before. Everything was tiring and exhausting.”

But her story didn’t end there. When she was put in touch with Vince, one of our Community Support Services Coordinators, she found something she had been missing: hope.

Step by step, Vince helped her rebuild her confidence, her independence and her belief in herself. A sense of direction. Someone in her corner.

“Ever since meeting Vince, everything has completely changed for me. He sat down with me and set out a plan. It was great. I feel much better. I feel much more like myself. Now I’m all set to go back to university and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Today, Adi is looking ahead, not back.

Every year, thousands of people across Scotland living with chest, heart, stroke or Long Covid conditions face that same moment where everything changes. Our Community Healthcare Support Services are there to help them live life to the full.

With the right support, a different future is possible. Gifts from people like you help make that future happen.

Life Changing Legacies

“I decided I wanted to give a percentage to CHSS because I see first-hand the work it does.”

Many of our supporters are choosing to support people across Scotland by leaving a gift in their Will to Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.
Theresa is leaving a life changing legacy.

“Doing this for myself gave me an opportunity to think seriously about my own legacy. I decided I wanted to give a percentage to CHSS because I see first-hand the work it does. Its values and person-centred, community-based approach match my own.”
