Larkhall ladies bowled over after beating their fundraising target

Larkhall Bowling Club’s ladies section held a charity night in aid of Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland at the start of February and raised a fantastic £1,800.

I am delighted and amazed by the amount raised and the generosity of all the attendees.

The money was raised through ticket sales as well as a raffle, tombola, bingo and other games with prizes donated by local businesses. It topped the £1,600 raised by the club at their event last year.

Carol Saunders, the Lady President, chose CHSS as her dad had a heart attack aged just 57. He didn’t receive support and Carol doesn’t want others to be in the same position.

Carol said: “I am delighted and amazed by the amount raised and the generosity of all the attendees.

“On behalf of Larkhall Bowling Club ladies section, I would like to thank everybody for their donations and contributions to our fundraiser on behalf of Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland which we held last night.

“I would like to thank the ladies who attended the event for their generosity and did not hesitate in taking part in any of the competitions on the night. A total of £1800 was raised.”

The Lady President also thanked Louise MacLeod, the Community, Events and Corporate Fundraiser for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, for attending the cheque presentation.

Louise said: “We are so grateful to all the ladies at Larkhall Bowling Club for choosing CHSS to benefit from their fundraising activities.

“They are real fundraising heroes. The funds they raise will help us to support the 1 in 5 people across the country who are living with chest, heart and stroke conditions and Long Covid to live their lives to the full.”

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland is committed to reaching an additional 175,000 people living with its conditions across Scotland by 2028 through its Community Healthcare Support Services.
