Glasgow Group Raises £1,400 After Tartan Tea Party

A Glasgow group has raised more than £1,000 for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) after their Tartan Tea Party last year.

CHSS is encouraging people to host their own party in 2026 after last year’s Tartan Tea Party raised more than £49,000.

One of those parties took place at the Boclair Community Church Café, in Glasgow, through the KPC Exercise Class. KPC Exercise Group, which is a peer group that’s partnered CHSS, promotes fitness and wellbeing on Monday evenings and Saturday mornings. Although it is primarily for cardiac and stroke rehabilitation, everyone is welcome to participate to improve their health and wellbeing.

Marie Maxwell, secretary for the KPC Exercise Class, said: “We’ve got a very good committee, and a lot of good work went into it, and the Tartan Tea Party was a huge success raising £1,400.

“We were overwhelmed with the generosity from people and local supermarkets who gave items towards it.

“We reckon we had about 130 people attending during the party, it was just incredible and the atmosphere was wonderful. We were very lucky that one of our members, who plays the bagpipes, came and piped everyone in in his full regalia.

“It was a phenomenal day and we just want to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the afternoon.”

Louise MacLeod, Community, Events and Corporate Fundraiser at Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, said: “We want to say a big thank you to everyone at KPC for their efforts in raising money for CHSS with their Tartan Tea Party this year.

“Fundraising help us to support the 1 in 5 people across the country who are living with chest, heart and stroke conditions and Long Covid to live their lives to the full.

“We can’t wait to host more Tartan Tea Parties in 2026 to raise more money to allow us to reach even more people with our conditions.”

KPC Exercise Classes take place at The Forum of Boclair Community Church, Rannoch Drive, on Monday evenings 7-8pm and on Saturday mornings 9-10am.
