CHSS Shop Manager Ready to Tackle the Mighty Stride at the 2026 Glasgow Kiltwalk 07 April 2026 An Ayrshire woman and her family will take on the Glasgow Kiltwalk this month for a special cause. Kirsty MacLean, from West Kilbride, will take part in the Mighty Stride, a 23-mile walk from Glasgow Green to Moss O’Balloch Park in Loch Lomond on April 26 to support Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS). Kirsty had a stroke at the age of 22 caused by a series of blood clots in March 2022 which left her with significant sight loss. Through support from CHSS and their Community Support Services, Kirsty began to volunteer for the charity before becoming the assistant manager of their Prestwick store and is now the shop manager. After taking on the Big Stroll at the Kiltwalk last year, Kirsty has recruited her family and friends again for this year with a team of 10 going a step further this year. Kirsty, who is now 26, said: “We did the Big Stroll last year and we really enjoyed it and we’re doing the Mighty Stride this year which will be challenging. “I’m doing it for CHSS because of how much the charity means to me. I want everybody with one of our conditions to receive the support I received. CHSS made such a difference in my recovery, and they’ve helped me to make sure my life isn’t half lived.” Elaine Thomson, Community Events & Corporate Fundraiser at CHSS, said: “We wish Kirsty and her family all the best for the Kiltwalk and would encourage as many people as possible to sign up and take part themselves. “Sunday has now sold out but we still have spaces available for Saturday’s Big Stroll which is 14.6 miles. “The Kiltwalk offers a range of distances for all ages and abilities and it’s a fantastic opportunity to take in some beautiful views of Scotland while raising money for a fantastic cause.” To support Kirsty’s fundraiser please go to www.justgiving.com/page/kirsty-maclean-2.
