Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland Maintains PIF TICK Certification

Leading Scottish health charity, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, has been PIF TICK Patient Information Forum recertified.

The PIF TICK accreditation is the UK’s only assessed quality mark for print and online health and care information.

To become a ‘trusted information creator’, the organisation had to undergo an assessment showing it met 10 key criteria. The criteria includes reliable, up to date evidence which is communicated clearly, meets a genuine need and users are involved in the development of the information.

As a trusted information creator all our resources are evidence-based, jargon-free, up-to-date and produced to the best possible standard.

This winter marks our first full year as a PIF TICK certified organisation and we are always developing our health information process and have increased several of our criteria from good to desirable.

Joanne Graham, Director of Service Delivery at CHSS said: “With the proliferation of misinformation and inaccurate health advice, it is more important than ever that the public and those with our conditions have sources of trustworthy health information.

“Maintaining the PIF TICK shows that all our health information resources go through a rigorous process of development and review. Our community can be confident in the knowledge that we are offering reliable, evidenced based resources in a variety of formats to support people with their health and wellbeing.

“We are also currently the only Scotland specific organisation to have the PIF TICK certification and be listed on the directory. All our information is written in consultation with Scottish healthcare professionals and with our Scotland based communities in mind.”

As well as our PIF TICK recertification this year we have continued developing our offer of translated resources. We now have over 80 resources in 10 community languages, with more being developed on a rolling basis.
