Everyone has the right to live life to the full. After a diagnosis of a chest or heart condition or a stroke, many people experience fear and isolation and struggle with the impact on their lives. Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland won’t stand for that. The care and support we deliver every day ensures everyone can live the life they want to.
We currently have around 50 shops / community hubs across Scotland. Our shops and hubs help us raise funds so we can provide our services to the people who need us. Every one of our stores relies on a team of volunteers to help run it and support our staff. By helping out in one of our stores, you can make a difference to people and their families in Scotland who are isolated, scared or anxious about their condition.
About Your Role
This is an opportunity to utilise your interest in books and records. As part of our team of volunteers you will sort and merchandise donated books, vinyl records, CD’s, DVD’s and videos. Help to identify that valuable special record or rare first edition. A good knowledge of books and the ability to discuss books with our customers would be an advantage. Potential volunteers must have a competent level of the English language.
The role includes:
categorising books, vinyl records, CD’s, DVD’s and videos
helping to identify potentially valuable items
assisting with stock replenishment and rotation
creating displays and thinking of promotional ideas
About Your Training and Development
To undertake your role you will be required to undertake a Basic Disclosure.
All volunteers are supported by their line manager, usually the manager of the shop. CHSS will provide all necessary training about shop procedures, which will be carried out under the guidance of the Shop Manager.
