Engagement Survey and Focus Groups

Our Volunteer Engagement Survey gave us lots to celebrate with 90% of you recommending volunteering at CHSS to family and friends and 95% of you considering your motivations for volunteering to have been met.

Whilst we’re really pleased with the positive feedback, the survey has also been a great opportunity to understand where we need to develop our work to provide the best possible experience for all.

Since the launch of the survey in March 2022, we have held focus groups and consultations to understand some of the results in more depth and have been working hard to address your feedback.

Communication

70% of you consider yourselves to be well-informed about the direction of the charity.

We know there is more we can do to better understand what you want to hear about and how you want to receive updates and information.

We have…

  • carried out a review of our volunteer newsletters, including what we include in the newsletters and how often we send them.
  • invested in a brand-new volunteer management system, Assemble, that will launch later this year. Assemble has a dedicated news-site which will update you on all the latest CHSS news and volunteering updates.

Leadership

You told us that that you would like to see more of the Leadership team and hear from them more regularly.

We have taken your feedback on board and…

  • in December our Leadership team visited shops across Scotland to meet colleagues and volunteers. The Leadership team will also be visiting our services across the organisation to meet more of our volunteers.
  • we are hosting our Volunteer Appreciation Event at the Aberdeen Science Centre on 1st March. The event is a chance for volunteers to meet colleagues, including members of the Leadership team to hear more about the work of CHSS and the impact your volunteering makes. You can also attend the event virtually and we hope this to be the first of a series of events across the country.

Support and Development

Although 90% of you felt you had access to the training you needed, in the survey and the focus group you said there was more we could do to streamline our training process and ensure all training is relevant and accessible.

We have…

  • recruited a dedicated learning and development lead to the volunteering team. Jess is currently leading on a full review of all our volunteer learning and development.
  • invested in a brand-new volunteering management system, Assemble, that will streamline and automate our training processes.

If you have any feedback or questions, please get in touch with us by emailing volunteering@chss.org.uk or speak to your Volunteer Line Manager.
