Condition Awareness Training for Volunteers

Our volunteers are a vital part of ensuring that there’s no life half lived in Scotland. No matter what your volunteering role is within the charity, you’re helping people across Scotland who are living with chest and heart conditions, Long Covid or have had a stroke.

We have created presentations which provide you with more information on these conditions and give you a better understanding of the lived experience of people with chest, heart and stroke conditions and Long Covid.

All volunteers who are directly supporting people with our conditions must watch the condition awareness presentations – Chest, Heart, Stroke and Long Covid – as part of your role, so you can learn about the conditions and how they affect people’s lives.

Your Volunteer Line Manager will discuss the presentations with you, listen to any feedback you have or help you if you have any questions.

If you don’t volunteer directly with our service users, we would still encourage you to watch the presentations and learn about the vital work your volunteering support funds and the difference you’re making to people’s lives.

If you want to delve a bit deeper into some of the training, we’ve also created additional training videos which provide information on fatigue, living with a long-term condition and self-management.

We understand that watching these presentations may raise personal memories about your own experiences with these conditions or your loved ones. If you’d like to speak to someone please reach out  to your Volunteer Line Manager or you can contact our Advice Line on freephone 0808 801 0899 or email adviceline@chss.org.uk
