alan stalkerIn 2012 Edinburgh based Alan Stalker got on his bike for CHSS and cycled from Canterbury to Rome via the old Via Fracegina pilgrim route – 1,500 miles in total! A lawyer by trade Alan only started cycling as a hobby more recently but completed his cycle successfully in just 31 days – a fantastic achievement. You can read more about Alan’s adventures on his blog:

Another wonderful peddler for CHSS is Julie Simpson from Banchory, who is undertook a humid cycle trek across South East Asia in November 2013.

Also crossing a foreign country on a bike is Nairn Academy student Christopher Chisholm but his bike is stationary! Christopher set himself a virtual challenge to cross the USA in 2013 using a turbo charger gym bike and completed his 2346 mile epic journey. So, as Christopher proves, you can rise to your personal challenge wherever you are!

Reaching new heights for CHSSconquer everest eddie and colin

Close friends and colleagues Colin and Eddie who both work at Crownhouse in Motherwell raised a fantastic £10,000 for CHSS by trekking to Everest Base Camp. Regular dare-devils, they have also abseiled off the Forth Rail Bridge and tackled marathons and obstacle runs.  Everest Base Camp was the ultimate aim for the intrepid pair and they achieved this goal in May 2011.

Everest too far? Why not tackle Scotland’s own famous peak for CHSS?

30 Ben Nevis VM AP TeamOn Friday 25th May 2012, the VirginMedia Access Planning team in Scotland did just that. Inspired to support CHSS following the tragic loss of a team member to a massive stroke, the team tackled the peak on one of the hottest days of the year yet were still greeted with a snowy reception at the top!

All their efforts were hugely rewarded as they raised over £3,000 for CHSS stroke research and services.
