The last twenty years have seen dramatic changes in the way services are provided for stroke survivors including the widespread development of stroke units and supported discharge services. These developments have been supported by robust clinical evidence from careful reviews of clinical evidence (termed systematic reviews). However there is one important area where there is a need for an updated review. This concerns whether the services provided by physiotherapists and occupational therapists late after stroke help stroke survivors to remain independent at home. We require some dedicated expert reviewer time to update this review with the contemporary evidence.
