Insurance and Actuarial Society of Glasgow Raises Funds for Leading Health Charity

The Insurance and Actuarial Society of Glasgow (IASG) has raised an impressive £9,255 for leading Scottish health charity Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland supports the 1 in 5 people in Scotland who are living with chest, heart and stroke conditions and Long Covid to live their lives to the full.  The charity provides a free advice line, organises peer support groups, offers health checks in local communities, and campaigns to improve policies and services for people living with its conditions.

“To raise over nine thousand pounds in one evening is incredible.  All money raised for CHSS stays in Scotland, allowing us to support the 1 in 5 people across the country who are living with chest, heart and stroke conditions and Long Covid.”

The IASG chose the charity to benefit from its Gala Dinner which took place last month at the Glasgow Hilton. £9255 was raised on the night, donated by the 600 members who attended the event.  The IASG also invited representatives from CHSS to give an overview of the charity’s activities to its members.

The Insurance and Actuarial Society of Glasgow (IASG) is part of the Chartered Insurance Institutes. It is one of the largest institutes in the UK, with over 4000 members and a history spanning more than 140 years.

Joanne Clark, President of the IASG said: “I was absolutely delighted to present a cheque for £9255 to Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland on behalf of the Insurance & Actuarial Society of Glasgow.

“Thanks to all the hosts and guest at our dinner this year who contributed to support this incredibly worthwhile charity.”

Louise Macleod, Community, Events, and Corporate Fundraiser at Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland received the cheque from Joanne.  She commented: “We are so grateful to Joanne and the IASG members for choosing Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland to benefit from the funds raised at their gala dinner.
