Charity Community Hub Opening in Dumbarton!

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS)  is offering free services, and reaching further into West Dumbartonshire communities with the opening of the area’s first Community Hub linked to a charity store.

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland’s Community Hub at Unit 20, Artizan Shopping Centre, 37 College Street, Dumbarton is set to open its doors on Thursday 21st September at 11.30am, with local councillor Iain McLaren cutting the ribbon at the opening ceremony.

The Community Hub represents an innovation in charity retailing, and adds to the charity’s hugely successful chain of unique charity stores.

The discount store will boast a great collection of clothes at affordable prices, along with the charity’s best-selling range of Scottish themed cards and diaries. There will be a seated Community Area with Wi-Fi and hot drinks. Visitors are welcome to come by to use those facilities completely free of charge.

The Charity has taken a larger unit to allow for the opening of the Community Area, and a separate Community Room which can be booked free of charge for local groups and clubs.

Director of Retailing, Jay Hogarty, explained, “We aim to have a bigger presence in the town centre where local people can have access to more of our services for people diagnosed with chest, heart or stroke conditions, as well as a great range of affordable fashion for a good cause.

“We are working on plans for the Community Hub so that we can offer Dumbarton a place that delivers real benefit to the people living there.

“We’ll be right there on the high street, whether people need information, access to our services, a space to meet, great fashion, budget buys, a place to check emails, or for a social catch up over free coffee.”

Donations of quality clothes are always welcome as all items in the shop have been donated to CHSS and all the profits help fund vital services and support for local people living with chest, heart and stroke illness – all money raised in Scotland stays in Scotland.
