Fundraising and Event Volunteering

Ian talks about volunteering with CHSS - Video transcript (PDF)

Every day is different in the busy Fundraising Department as we prepare for our exciting events throughout the year and look after our fantastic supporters in the local community. There are many different volunteering roles available for individuals or groups, that can be undertaken on a regular basis or as a one–off day of volunteering.

Events Volunteering

Our events are a vital source of income for CHSS, however they are only possible due to the amazing work of our event volunteers. Ideal if you are looking to volunteer on an ad-hoc basis, our extensive events calendar includes everything from abseils to walkathons and each event will have a varied set of roles that need fulfilled, for example:

  • Welcoming participants and escorting them around event sites
  • Helping to register our participants
  • Manning marshal points
  • Delivering refreshments to participants and other volunteers
  • Traffic and/or crowd control
  • Cheering on CHSS runners at many of the country’s major running events and welcoming them at the finish line

Volunteering at our events is not only an important way of supporting CHSS, but it’s a great experience and lots of fun too! You can gain experience of working in a team, meet people in your local community, enhance your organisation and communication skills as well as experience the wonderful feeling of doing something for others and giving back.

Register your interest in becoming a CHSS Events volunteer

By registering your interest in becoming an events volunteer, you are not committing to any events. Completing the form just means that you will receive a monthly email with details of the various volunteer opportunities coming up.

You can also check out the events we have coming up on the CHSS Events page

Office Volunteering

We also have a range of roles available in our offices, helping with the preparation and administration of our events or with our day-to-day fundraising tasks. From fulfilling registration packs to carrying out internet research or helping us maintain our collection cans in the local community, there’s always plenty of tasks where we would appreciate an extra pair of hands! If you are looking to volunteer with CHSS more regularly or would like to develop your office skills and experience, please get in touch on 0131 2972 750.
