Work With Us
Make sure that people like RBS team member Tom don’t recover alone during the pandemic
“I want to tell my grandson how much I love him but stroke has taken my voice away”
My name is Tom. I used to work for RBS. It has always been more than a workplace for me, it’s been like a family. I want to introduce you to a new part of my family – Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland.
They helped me so much when my life changed forever – and I hope you can join me in helping them.
I suffered a stroke in 2019 that has taken away my voice. My life and the lives of my wife and family have been changed forever.
Since that day, life has been really difficult – and lockdown has made things even more of a struggle. But Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland has been there for me and my family from the very first moment I got home from hospital. Because of them I don’t feel so alone and I know my wife Karen feels the same.

Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland’s mission is to make sure that there is no life half lived in Scotland.
We are Scotland’s largest charity working to help people with chest, heart and stroke conditions and Long-Covid live life to the full.
Our Scotland-wide network of 140 support groups, one-to-one support workers and 8,000 volunteers help people do more than survive their condition – we help them really live.
The incredible fundraising of colleagues at RBS Dundee fund the jobs of people like Darlene. She has been there throughout the pandemic for people like stroke survivor Tam, who would’ve been completely alone if it weren’t for Darlene’s life-line calls.
Supporting your team’s wellbeing
Support our services
During the Covid-19 crisis, our supporters have helped us to…
Provide life-line support for 17,450 people affected by chest, heart and stroke conditions – including Covid-19 – through our Hospital to Home services
Launch a new national service with our NHS heroes – supporting people with severe lung conditions including Covid-19 get home from hospital
Our volunteers carried out over 35,260 acts of kindness including phone calls and shopping deliveries for people isolated and lonely.
At the beginning of the pandemic, we launched a call for Kindness Volunteers to join us and support those who were feeling isolated and scared.
Even as lockdown restrictions ease, Kindness isn’t going anywhere. Our incredible volunteers are continuing to support people across Scotland to make sure no one is alone.
18 year old Freya and stroke survivor Chris, 70, have become the best of friends since the pair were matched as part of our Kindness Call service. They phone each other every week, and it has made a huge difference to both of their lives.

We have a range of support available to make sure everyone at RBS is supported to feel happy and healthy.
Every day in Scotland, people are leaving hospital scared and alone. This year demand for our services has doubled and people like Tom need your support more than ever before.
Your colleagues at RBS in Dundee have been amazing in supporting people to live life to the full. They’ve been doing dress down days and a team took part in the KiltWalk. Their heroic efforts have so far raised a whopping £4,700!
David Knox, Branch Manager, Dundee Chief Office, Royal Bank of Scotland, said:
“It has been fantastic supporting Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland over the past year. Whenever the branch is going to be doing some fundraising, we always try and pick a charity that’s close to the team in some way as it really helps us all to get involved and stay motivated.
“The team all love it, they really enjoy the fundraising and because it’s a cause so close to them, they’ve been telling friends, family and customers all about what they’re doing.
You and your team can be every recovery; every loving moment shared; every glimmer of hope. Please support us in any way you can.
