Loch Ness Marathon Festival

Sunday 1st October 2023

Loch Ness Marathon

The Loch Ness Marathon is one of the most beautiful and scenic marathon settings in the UK. The route begins near Fort Augustus in an atmospheric location and continues through breathtaking scenery, taking you along the south-eastern shores of Loch Ness, across the River Ness, and into the centre of Inverness, the capital city of the Highlands. If you’re looking for an autumn marathon in unrivalled scenery, this is the one for you.

River Ness 10k

The 10k is a very popular choice with the CHSS team providing a flat course that makes its way through the historic Highland capital of Inverness, passing the Castle along the banks of the picturesque River Ness. This event is not only a great ‘step up’ from the 5k, but an excellent choice for faster runners looking for a good race time.

10k Corporate Challenge

The 10k Corporate Challenge was devised to help promote health and fitness in the workplace. Open to all sectors of business and industry in the public and private sector, teams of between four and six runners benefit from a fun team-building opportunity.
If you prefer a team approach to sport, then this is the ideal race for you – especially as the route is scenic, flat and packed with rousing supporters along the way!

River Ness 5k

This is a very popular event, no doubt in part to its inclusive nature. To begin with, it is open to runners of all ages and abilities including wheelchair entrants. Whether you’re running for charity in fancy dress, with your entire family, in a group of mates, or even with your school or club – whatever your level of fitness, goals, and aspirations, you’ll finish this race with a smile on your face!
Following a flat route along the River Ness, the race finishes at the Event Village in Bught Park where the waiting crowds will cheer you over the finish line.

Wee Nessie

This one is for those ‘little monsters’ in your life. To keep them busy the Festival organisers have created the Wee Nessie race. Open to pre-school children aged 5 and under, it’s a fun addition to the Baxters Festival of Running.  This is a simple and short (approx 400 metres), circular route in the enclosed Bught Park that is safe for kids.  It allows the children to walk, jog or run at their own pace and provides the perfect introduction to the sport.
