The aim of this course is to further enhance and develop the knowledge & skills of health and social care staff working with people affected by stroke.

By the end of this course participants will

  • Examined and reflected on their knowledge and skills related to stroke
  • Built upon their knowledge and skills from the Current Care in Stroke Part 1 course (if applicable)
  • Identified areas where further learning is required
  • Identified areas in their own clinical practice where improvements / changes would be beneficial

  • NG, PEG and Enteral feeding
  • Psychological Aspects of Stroke
  • Clinical Reasoning in the Physical Management of Stroke
  • Perceptual and Cognitive Problems Post Stroke

Day 2

  • Living with Aphasia
  • Use of Medicines in Stroke
  • Ethical issues in stroke care
  • Relationships after Stroke
  • Hospital to Home
  • Carers Issues

Who can attend this course?

All health and social care staff working for NHS Lothian or NHS Borders who have some experience in working with stroke or those who have attended the Current Care in Stroke Part 1 course.
