Support groups can help you to meet new people, make new friends and learn more about living with your health condition.
We have support groups across Scotland which offer a wide range of support to people living with chest, heart and stroke illness. This support includes exercise, information sharing, social activities and an opportunity to meet and talk to other people who understand what you are going through.
The groups are run by their members and are open to partners, friends and family too. To find out if there is a group near you, search by entering your postcode or location in the form opposite.
The groups vary from large groups who meet weekly to smaller groups that might just meet once a month for a coffee and a chat. However, they do have some important things in common; they all provide support, information and friendship in an informal, supportive setting.
Some of the things our groups can do for you include:
- Help to build confidence
- Give support and encouragement
- A chance to meet others
- Exercise at a level to suit your needs … while having fun!
- Guest speakers who can provide information to help you cope better with your condition
- an opportunity to keep in touch with NHS and other healthcare professionals who can support you when needed
