Abseilers on the Forth Road Bridge

We currently have 23 charity event challenges around Scotland which help us to raise the funds we need to provide our services. Following on from the success of our events and the involvement of volunteers assisting us to manage these eventsthe money raised from our range of challenges helps us to support services within your local area. The services aim to encourage people who have had a chest, heart or stroke illness, particularly those who have communication problems, to

  • regain maximum independence in the community
  • enhance their quality of life
  • build up their confidence and widen social horizons
  • and encourage and support their families and carers

Event Marshall Volunteer Role

This is an opportunity to undertake a satisfying and rewarding and exciting role as part of our team of volunteers, working in a friendly atmosphere while providing an intricate part of our events programme been extremely useful and appreciated service to the charity.

The role includes

  • assisting participants and making them feel welcome
  • escorting participants to challenge points at event
  • ensuring that participants abide by health & safety rules set for event
  • providing refreshments to participants
  • helping participants with equipment where necessary
  • administrative duties
  • manning marshall points
  • traffic control—when necessary
  • updating controllers when necessary
  • traffic parking when necessary

All necessary training will be provided by the charity and all volunteers are supported by the events controllers.

A Toolbox Talk will be given before every event

Events Driver Volunteer Role

Volunteer Drivers must be physically fit, friendly and enjoy meeting people to make participants feel at ease and thus ensuring the enjoy their day out raising funds for the charity.

Your level of involvement is arranged to suit we needdrivers and relief drivers at an event to pick up and drop participants at set points.Drivers will assist with the collection of equipment for an event.

Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) provide transport at an event where possible. You may need to use your own transport.

You must be 25 or over to drive a CHSS Vehicle.

Own car with full driving license for at least 3 years, ability to work alone, unsupervised and as part of a team.

All training will be provided by the charity and all volunteers are supported by their shop manager.

We will advise you on insurance cover for own car use.
