Stroke Managed Clinical Network Subgroup
Aim
To advise the National Advisory Committee for Stroke (NACS) on all matters relating to the development and support of Stroke Managed Clinical Networks (MCNs).
Public role
Member of the Stroke Managed Clinical Network Sub Group at national level.
Purpose
Provide a view from patients and carers on policy and development of Stroke MCNs.
Commitment
Four attendances at the NACS MCN Sub Group per year (half a day), with approximately two hours reading prior to each meeting. Maintain networks with other patients and carers, either through a local Managed Clinical Network, Patient & Carer Forum, CHSS Stroke Support Group, to provide feedback from NACS MCN Sub Group meetings.
There may also be opportunities to engage with local MCNs or to join special meetings to discuss specific issues.
Requirements
Experience of stroke illness
Confidence to share views and opinions in public, challenging the views of clinicians and policy makers where necessary.
Training
As required on an individual basis. Possibility of ‘buddy’ representative for support.

Reimbursement
Travel, meals, accommodation, child care and reasonable administrative expenses. Costs for a carer to accompany a patient representative may also be available.
