Be a fundraising superhero

By signing up for the Men’s 10K Edinburgh, you’re making a difference.

By fundraising for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland and pledging to raise a minimum sponsorship of £150, you’ll be making sure that no one has to feel scared and alone when they return home from hospital.

You are the difference between someone just surviving and really living.

You’ll be helping people like Mike, who had a stroke two years ago. He was struggling to cope, until he met our stroke nurse Tom.

“After my stroke, I was in a dark place,” explains Mike. “I sometimes worried I wouldn’t be able to wake up in the morning. That I might have another stroke.

“It’s amazing to think how far I’ve come with the help of Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.”

But Tom from Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland was there for me.

“He came to visit me at home and reassured me there was light at the end of the tunnel.”

Tom helped Mike get the support he really needed, including sessions with a psychologist to help him control his anxiety.

Mike is certain that his story isn’t unique for men in Scotland. “I was being a typical man and thinking that I should deal with things by myself. Sharing was a sign of weakness, you know? But I was a mess and bottling everything up was making things so much worse.

“Asking for help was one of the best things I have ever done. I’m so lucky, and grateful that Tom was there for me – when I really needed someone to reach out to.”

So, it’s time to get your fundraising hero cape on and raise money to make sure more people like Mike get the support they need.
