Carer information sessions have been delivered across Fife in 2010 and 2011 in partnership with the Stroke Training Coordinator in Fife and Fife Carers Centre.
Informal carers of patients following stroke have commented how useful and informative they have found these sessions as well as helping them gain the necessary skills and confidence to carry out their valuable role.

- Are you caring for a family member / friend who has had a stroke?
- Do you want to understand more about the cause and effects of stroke?
- Would you like advice on how to deal with problems that you may encounter in your caring role?
- Would you like a chance to talk to other carers of someone living with the effects of stroke?
If the answer to the questions above is yes these information sessions are for you and they are FREE!!
DVD for informal carers of patients following stroke
'You care, they care, we care – a practical guide from NHS Fife' is an innovative new DVD resource which will be available in Fife in 2012 for informal carers of patients following stroke.
This DVD has been produced and developed jointly by Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) Stroke Training Coordinator (Fife), NHS Fife Stroke Coordinator & Stroke Specialist Nurse along with members of the Fife Stroke Managed Clinical Network and the STARs 4 Project Manager for CHSS. Funding for this resource was provided by The Stroke Innovation Awards within CHSS.
It aims to provide practical based information on the basic skills which informal carers may often carry out. It should also provide you with a reminder of how to perform certain tasks which may have already been shown to you by a healthcare professional.
The content has been based on feedback provided by informal stroke caregivers as well as the knowledge and experience of healthcare professionals working within the specialist field of stroke care.
