Aim

Provide an independent check on how NHS Scotland services are performing. NHS Quality Improvement Scotland (NHS QIS) works on behalf of the people of Scotland and reports openly on what it finds, recommending action when required.

  • highlight areas for improvement in patient care

Commitment

  • 1.5 -2.5 days per review undertaken
  • reading material prior to review visit
  • maximum 3 review visits per year

Good communication skills

Employment within the NHS in last 5 years

Training

Support provided as required

Benefits

The purpose of patient and carer involvement is to ensure that guidelines address issues that matter to patients and carers and that their perspectives are reflected in the guideline.

Aphasia in Scotland Project

The Aphasia in Scotland Project started in 2006 at Queen Margaret University College in Edinburgh and is currently funded by NHS QIS. It will run for a year.

What is the aim of the project?

To look at service provision for people with aphasia in Scotland. This is mainly speech and language therapy services. We hope this will contribute to future changes in service provision.
