Virtual Stroke Group ground rules
These ground rules have been set for the benefit of all members of our Virtual Stroke Group; it is essential that new members agree to the ground rules on joining.
The goal of the Virtual Stroke Group is provide an online space where people affected by stroke can share experiences and provide mutual support. It is important that we are as respectful of each other as we would be face to face.
Members will not:
- use offensive language
- post pornographic material or links to such material
- verbally abuse other members or other named individuals
- advertise products or services
- represent the interests of other organisations or companies
- impersonate other members or other individuals
- post copyrighted material.
If you come across an inappropriate post, please report it, and we will promptly contact the user. Serious or continued breech of the rules will result in the user being permanently banned.
Please remember that any messages you post can be read by all visitors to the site, not just group members, and that they will be indexed by Google and other search engines. You should not disclose sensitive personal information in your messages – be conscious of security and confidentiality, both your own and that of others
To help people understand your post, please refer to authors and previously posted messages when applicable (e.g., "As Jack said earlier in his post, …").
Emotions are easily misunderstood when you can't see faces or body language, and you can unwittingly upset someone. Please think about how your message could be read before you send it.
If you write in capital letters it will come over as SHOUTING. In general, use normal type for your messages.
We encourage members who are more experienced with the Virtual Stroke Group to be an example to new members, leading discussions and offering suggestions and ideas in order to help the community thrive.
While these rules cover most situations, they cannot anticipate everything. We reserve the right to take any actions necessary to ensure that the virtual stroke group remains a safe online environment for our members.
