pdf logo Primary Prevention of cardiovascular disease in Scotland 2005
Published on behalf of the Heart Health Executive Group.

Cardiovascular Disease: A Guide to Primary Prevention in Scotland
In 2002 the Scottish Executive launched their National CHD and Stroke Strategy. The first recommendation is that “all NHS Boards should, through their local Managed Clinical Networks, develop explicit CHD and stroke prevention strategies by December 2004."

This cardiovascular disease (CVD) guide was produced to support this process. Although the guide specifically relates to preventing CVD it is important to note that it may also be of use to those involved in wider health improvement and local health improvement planning. It preceded the Strategy and identified the Scottish position on Stroke.
