SCoT (Stroke Competency Toolkit)
www.scotonline.org

The Stroke Competency Toolkit (SCoT) is a free Continuing Professional Development (CPD) resource, specific to stroke care and is based on the NHS Education (NES) Stroke Core Competencies (2005).

The SCoT was developed and piloted in NHS Lanarkshire. Due to a successful evaluation, funding was granted from NHS Education for Scotland (NES) and NHS Scotland to allow Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland to roll out the SCoT to all staff working in stroke units in Scotland. More recently the SCoT has been developed as an online resource in partnership with The University of Edinburgh Learning Technology Section.

The SCoT provides a format which enables health and social care staff to evidence their learning and demonstrate their knowledge of the stroke care competencies through reflective practice over a six month period.

The SCoT comprises of two levels Core and Specalising. There are also Specalising competencies specifically for registered nurses working in Stroke Care which were developed in partnership with the Scottish Stroke Nurses Forum (SSNF).
