Management of Stroke – An Evidence Based Approach
20 CAT Points at SCQF Level 9

This module with Edinburgh Napier University, will be of particular interest to nurses and other health professionals who would like to develop their interest, skill and knowledge in caring for stroke patients. This is a BSc/BN SCQF Level 9 module. Successful completion of this module is accorded 20 CAT points at SCQF Level 9 within the BSc/BN programmes.

The module will be delivered in Trimester 2 (January - May 2013). There are face to face sessions delivered on a Thurs am (10.00 - 12.30) on 24th and 31st Jan; 14th and 28th Feb; 14th and 21st March. Additional teaching and support will include a Web-CT presence and audio / video links.

Clinical Issues in Stroke Care — 20 Credits at Masters Level (or as CPD)

A 25 hour multidisciplinary course taught over 3 days in Nursing & Health Care, University of Glasgow and supported using the Moodle e-learning environment.

This course aims to prepare the practitioner to gain a deeper understanding of the current clinical issues in stroke care and explore their impact.

Managing Cardiovascular Risk — 20 Credits at Masters Level

Prepares the student to assess and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, working within an inter-disciplinary team, providing effective communication and evidence based practice to deliver effective cardiovascular care.

Classes run every Wednesday from 30th November 2011 to 22nd February 2012 (excluding 14th, 21st, 28th December).

Stroke Management – 20 Point Modules at SCQF Level 9

Two modules are being offered at the University of West of Scotland. These modules are delivered in partnership with University of West of Scotland, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland and NHS Lanarkshire / NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.

  • Managing acute conditions – stroke
  • Managing chronic conditions – stroke

The modules are designed to articulate with SIGN guidelines and will equip the healthcare practitioner to respond to the holistic needs of the stroke patient and their family. They are taught by a multi–professional group of clinical experts to ensure relevant and up–to–date content.

FREE to NHS Lanarkshire staff if applied for under the local service level agreement.

Non Malignant Palliative Care: A Distance Learning Partnership with Strathcarron Hospice and the University of West of Scotland

This module is part of our flexible distance learning programme. The module runs over 11 weeks and can be taken either as a 'stand alone' module or as part of the Graduate Certificate in Palliative Care which consists of 3 modules delivered at SQF9 (degree level).
