Lothian Social Services and Community Care Staff Stroke Study Days

Aims and objectives

The aim of the course is to enhance the skills and knowledge of social care staff working with people affected by stroke.

By the end of the study day participants will have:

• Improved knowledge of causes, complications and therapies related to stroke care

• Increased skills and confidence in relation to:

  • what is a stroke
  • communication and swallowing difficulties
  • physical abilities after stroke
  • how stroke affects function
  • psychological problems after stroke

These study days will commence at 9.00am and finish at 4pm
