Stroke Training — Greater Glasgow and Clyde
Heather Bryceland
Stroke Training Co-ordinator
Greater Glasgow and Clyde
How Stroke Training Developed
Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS), in partnership with Argyll & Clyde identified the need for specialised training for nurses and other health professionals working with stroke patients and their families.
With the appointment of a Stroke Training Coordinator Argyll & Clyde have more recently provided education and training courses and study days throughout the region.
Fro dates see Related Documents - right.
The courses have been designed as:
- the part 1 and part 2 courses are 2 consecutive days each plus a follow-up day 1 month later. Maximum 16 participants.
- the advanced course takes the form of 1 day only and focuses on a specific topic
Each course and study day stands alone, the content having been carefully chosen to address the knowledge and skills required at that particular level.
On completion a personal action plan is drawn up to identify further specific learning needs, which are discussed with the line manager.
The courses and study days aim to
- be relevant to the workplace
- reflect practice
- empower and enable
- challenge, but support and be non-judgemental
- build confidence
Specifically designed study days can be set up in order to address the learning needs of particular staff groups.
Team Of Trainers
The Stroke Training Coordinator with a team of trainers, all with specific interest and experience in stroke, deliver the different aspects of the courses.
