Aims and objectives

Aims

To enhance knowledge, skills and confidence in working with people affected by stroke and to raise awareness of the issues affecting people living with stroke.

Objectives

By the end of the study day participants will have:

  • Updated / refreshed knowledge about causes, complications and treatment of stroke
  • Increased skills and confidence in the areas of communication difficulties and physical management after stroke

Target audience

Home helps, social service staff and health care assistants.

  • Common problems following stroke
  • Communication problems after stroke and how to help
  • Physical management and how to help
