Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS) in partnership with the University of the West of Scotland and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, have developed a multidisciplinary degree module—credit rating 30 points.

Course Title

Multidisciplinary stroke management

Aims Of Module

This module offers the opportunity to members of the stroke multidisciplinary team to apply underpinning knowledge and skills to enhance and develop clinical practice. It will encourage critical analysis and research methods.

Learning Outcomes

  • demonstrates a multidisciplinary evidence based approach to stroke care
  • critically analyse the underpinning knowledge and skills required to deliver effective management and rehabilitation of stroke patients
  • implements guidelines and practice
  • evaluates the impact that stroke has on patients quality of life
  • encourages staff to be empowered in their work with stroke patients
  • practise effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • formulate short and long term goals in partnership with the patients

Learning Experience

The modules consist of 2 study days and 1 follow up day. The study days consist of tutorials, focused discussions, group activities and participatory sessions.

100% course work. Project of 3,500 words.

Cost

Free to staff within Argyll & Clyde.

Target Audience

Qualified health and social care professionals with access to clinical contact with stroke patients.
