Aims and objectives

The aim of the course is to further enhance and develop the skills and knowledge of health and social care staff working with people affected by stroke.

By the end of this course participants will have:

  • Examined and reflected on their knowledge and skills related to stroke
  • Increased their knowledge and skills related to stroke
  • Built upon their knowledge and skills from Current Care in Stroke Part 1 (if applicable)
  • Identified areas where further learning is required
  • Identified areas in their own clinical practice where improvements / changes would be beneficial

Day 1

  • Stroke Classification & Medical Treatments
  • Living with Aphasia
  • NG, PEG & Enteral Feeding
  • Sexuality after Stroke
  • Palliative Care and Stroke

Day 2

  • Perceptual & Cognitive Problems after Stroke
  • Spiritual Care
  • Physical Management of Stroke
  • Hospital to Home
  • A Carers Perspective

Target audience

All health and social care staff who have some experience in working with stroke.
