Aims and objectives

Aims

To enhance knowledge, skills and confidence in working with people affected by stroke and to raise awareness of the issues affecting people living with stroke.

Objectives

By the end of this study day participants will have

• Updated / refreshed knowledge about causes, complications and treatment of stroke
• Increased skills and confidence in the areas of communication difficulties and physical management after stroke

Course outline

• Causes and complications of stroke
• Communication problems after stroke
• Experiential communication workshop
• Assessment of physical ability

Target audience

District and practice nurses, and health visitors.
