Stroke Groups

Stroke can affect anyone at any time in their lives and is one of Scotland’s main causes of disability.

Have you or a relative had a stroke? Are you looking for support? We can help.

Volunteer Stroke Service (VSS)
(CHSS groups)

The Community Services Department has offered local stroke services throughout Scotland for more than 30 years.

Its dedicated staff team offers support for

  • people who have had a stroke with particular focus on people with a communication difficulty
  • their carers and families

by

  • staff-led groups with the help of volunteers
  • one to one support with volunteers

Affiliated, Self Help Stroke Groups

These run in many areas throughout Scotland. These Groups are available to anyone who has had a stroke. They are run by volunteers and stroke survivors themselves. They are supported by CHSS for insurance and guidance.
