Heartbeat Cardiac Support Group (Ayr)
Formed in 1993, Heartbeat Cardiac Support Group meets every Monday evening at Craigpark School, Belmont Avenue, Ayr at 7 pm.
The class lasts approximately one hour and is open to all members of the public, who have previously attended a hospital cardiac rehabilitation course.
We are a Phase 4 cardiac rehabilitation exercise group whose aim is to promote cardiac exercise (including swimming) and to provide invaluable practical and emotional support / advice for those who have some form of cardiac condition which requires them to partake in a form of exercise which is suited to their individual needs and capabilities.
Members receive support and training both as individuals and as part of a group. We have found that offering this service helps to reach those members of the community who might not otherwise feel comfortable attending more formal types of exercise class. We promote wellbeing and good health for all, regardless of age and capability and the peace of mind of knowing that all classes are run by qualified BACR exercisers.
We receive no outside funding as such, but are supported by members in the form of subscriptions and voluntary donations in order to cover the ongoing running costs of the club.
