Communication Support Service (CSS)
(CHSS groups)
The Community Stroke Services Department has offered local stroke services throughout Scotland for more than 30 years.
Its dedicated staff team offers support for
- people who have had a stroke with particular focus on people with a communication difficulty
- their carers and families
by
- staff–led groups with the help of volunteers
- one to one support with volunteers

Community Stroke Groups
These run in many areas throughout Scotland. These Groups are available to anyone who has had a stroke. They are run by volunteers and stroke survivors themselves. They are supported by CHSS for insurance and guidance.

Stroke Nurses
The CHSS Stroke Nurse Service provides individualised information, advice and support to people affected by a recent diagnosis of Stroke / Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) and their carers.

The Young Stroke Support Worker (YSSW) post is an exciting development in Lanarkshire, established in January 2004.
