As Scotland's Health Charity, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland works to improve the quality of life for people in Scotland affected by chest, heart and stroke illness, through medical research, influencing public policy, and by providing advice, information and support in the community.

We are looking for a Financial Controller to assist the Finance Director in the implementation of the finance and accounting policies across CHSS in line with statutory requirements.

The Financial Controller is responsible for the management of the Finance Department and routine financial property management, this includes;

  • Preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts
  • Preparing the monthly management accounts and the annual statutory accounts of the Charity and other financial reports as required
  • Producing returns for various agencies, such as HMRC and NHS
  • To be responsible for the development and improvement of all financial systems

The successful candidate must be CCAB qualified and have recent experience of using Sage 200 and Sage Payroll. Staff management experience is also essential as the postholder will be responsible for the management of the Finance Team.

Cardiac & Respiratory Support Service Local Co-Ordinator (Inverness & North East Highland)

    Salary: £19,871 - £23,629

    Hours: 32.5 hours per week (full time)

    Base: CHSS Scotland Inverness Regional Office

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland is an innovative, leading medical charity, and improves the quality of life for people in Scotland affected by chest, heart and stroke illness. The aim of our pioneering Heart Failure Support Service (now known as the Cardiac & Respiratory Support Service) is to reduce loneliness and isolation and improve the quality of life of people living with heart failure in their local communities. The service delivers support through volunteer befriending, patient/carer meetings, small peer groups and newsletters.

The main role of the CRSS Local Co-ordinator is to directly co-ordinate service provision by developing and managing a client and volunteer caseload and working in partnership with NHS Highland. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual, able to work flexibly and independently, who is computer literate. Experience of managing volunteers in a community setting is essential as is excellent communication and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Regular travel around the Inverness and North East Highland area is required, a current driving license and access to a car is therefore necessary. Knowledge of the Highland area would be particularly advantageous as would an interest in health related issues and a belief in the positive impact of befriending. No medical knowledge is required.

The post is subject to membership of the Protection for Vulnerable Groups Scheme.

Stroke Education Facilitator (Grampian)

    Salary: £28,626 - £35,482 per annum (AfC band 7 equivalent)

    Hours: 32.5 hours per week (CHSS full time hours)

    Base: Grampian

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland improves the quality of life for people in Scotland affected by chest, heart and stroke illness, through medical research, influencing public policy, advice and information and support in the community.

The work of the Stroke Education Facilitator is to plan and deliver appropriate and evidence based training in stroke for health and social care staff, and informal carers. The service is provided in partnership with NHS Grampian and aims to ensure all individuals caring regularly for people affected by stroke have the suitable knowledge, skills and confidence to fulfil their role and enhance the quality of services.

We are seeking a motivated individual with good communication skills and organisational ability, interested in developing skills in teaching and presentation. Candidates must have a first level general nursing / AHP qualification and four years post-registration / graduate experience in either a hospital or community setting. Some teaching/training or mentoring experience is essential for this post. Access to a car is essential.

Assistant Shop Manager (Davidson's Mains)

Graphic Design Assistant (Edinburgh)

    Salary: £17,649 to £21,534 per annum (pro rata)

We are now looking for a Graphic Design Assistant to assist in providing marketing materials and other design and marketing support for our Retail and Fundraising teams across a variety of media. Reporting to the Graphic & Web Design Officer, you will provide concepts and fully worked designs as well as amending and updating previously designed materials. Excellent attention to detail is essential along with the ability to bring a creative flair to the role.

The successful candidate must have a proven track record of designing successful marketing material, be highly accomplished in at least one of Photoshop, Indesign or Illustrator and have experience of HTML and CSS. A relevant professional qualification and experience of e-marketing are desirable. You will be a self-starter with the desire to succeed in this new role.
