The Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) Advice Line aims to meet the needs of patients, their families and health professionals by providing confidential, independent advice on all aspects of chest, heart and stroke illness.
The Advice Line is the first helpline in the UK to be accredited for the third time by the Telephone Helplines Association (THA). Its quality standard is a specialised resource for telephone helplines to assess, improve and maintain their quality of service.
The Advice Line is staffed by specialist nurses from 9.30 am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-4.00pm, Monday to Friday.
The Advice Line number is 0845 077 6000, all calls are charged at local rates, and there is an out-of-hours answer phone. There is also a minicom 0845 077 6000.

Contact the Advice Line Nurses from your mobile phone by texting 'chss' followed by your message to 07766 40 41 42. Messages charged at standard rates.
Do You Want To Talk To Us In A Language Other Than English?
We can speak to you, with an interpreter, using Language Line—a confidential UK wide translation service.
How To Use Language Line
Call the helpline number and tell us which language you would like to use. We also need your name and telephone number.
Hang up, wait by your phone and an interpreter will call you back within a few minutes. We can then talk to you and give you the information you need.
Advice Line Promotion
If you would like to promote the Advice Line you can obtain our Advice Line promotional material (Advice Line cards, card dispenser, fridge magnets, bookmarks and A4 Advice Line poster) free through our publications order form.
Calls to the Advice Line will not show up in your phone bill but if you're calling from a mobile, check the deal you have with your mobile company.
The Advice Line email service does not protect the anonymity of the client and takes no responsibility for the confidentiality of responses. Caution should be exercised when emailing from a shared, employer's or public computer.
